Honoring Joe Ogilvie: A Legacy of Vision and Service

04.24.2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Ogilvie, our Board President and a tireless champion for the rail trail and the Depot restoration project. Joe’s leadership was defined by a rare combination of grit and friendship, and his sudden loss leaves a profound void in our community.

In honor of Joe’s enduring spirit, the Corkscrew Rail Trail Association remains fully committed to the goals he set in motion. Our work on the trail connections and the Depot restoration will proceed with renewed purpose, fueled by the memory of his leadership.

To ensure Joe’s presence remains a permanent part of the landscape he loved, we are planning to purchase a memorial bench in his honor. This bench will serve as a place for weary travelers and trail enthusiasts alike to rest and enjoy the beauty Joe worked so hard to preserve. The next round of donations received by the organization will be dedicated to this memorial. Your support will help us provide a lasting tribute to a man who gave so much of himself to this trail.

Thank you, Joe, for your service, your passion, and your friendship.
